Arising from England's post-punk underground in 1980 and supernaturally productive ever since, industrial / dark wave pioneers Attrition have announced a triple date tour of Aotearoa this coming spring. Helmed by Martin Bowes, who co-founded the project in Coventry with Julia Niblock (who departed in 1985 to join The Legendary Pink Dots), Attrition are touring their first new studio album in nine years The Black Maria, performing in Tāmaki Makaurau, Pōneke and Ōtautahi (Attrition's first ever South Island appearance).

Embracing and unlocking the artistic potentialities afforded by emerging synthesiser / drum machine technology in the early '80s, Attrition's four decade plus back catalogue is shadowy, vast and deep, encompassing eighteen studio long players, nearly a dozen live albums — including 2018's Live in Wellington. World-renowned UK dark wave, industrial, and post-punk innovators ATTRITION have released their long-awaited new album, ‘The Black Maria’ (Two Gods Records, March 2024), to widespread critical acclaim. Formed in 1980 in Coventry, England, ATTRITION are about to embark on their Australian & New Zealand Tour in October-November 2024, and are excited to appear in New Zealand’s South Island for the first time ever at Christchurch’s Embankment Tavern, on Thursday 7 November.

ATTRITION are joined for tourdates across Australia and New Zealand by Canadian ritual-ambient/ethereal project SUBTERRANEA, and at the Embankment by Ōtautahi’s own industrial / powernoise / electronic artist ACCLIMATE and improv avant-pop-noise deviants PLACENTA COOKBOOK.
