Going Global Music Summit & Artist Showcases 2024 - First Speakers Announced

Chris Cudby / Thursday 18th July, 2024 10:02AM

Described by one commentator as "our lil' mini Big Sound", Aotearoa's Going Global Music Summit is a two day exchange of ideas and experiences, hosting panel discussions featuring key industry experts from all around our green planet — "international booking agents, sync licensors, media experts, PR maestros, artist managers well-versed in global ventures, and trailblazers navigating the fast-paced realms of live and digital music platforms". Returning to Tāmaki Makaurau's Roundhead Studios on 29th and 30th August, the first guest speakers for Going Global 2024 has been officially announced, along with initial details for the accompanying two night Artist Showcases — traditionally featuring a selection of Aotearoa's rising stars playing back-to-back 20 minute sets, happening this year at Karangahape Road's Whammy! and brand new Double Whammy venues on both evenings of the Summit.

Brought to you by Independent Music New Zealand (IMNZ) and the NZ Music Commission, international speakers making their Going Global debut include Angela Dorgan (First Music Contact), Elliott Lefko (Goldenvoice / AEG Presents), Jemma Burns (Pulse Points), Lisa Gottheil (Grandstand Media) and Shain Shaprio PhD (author of This Must Be The Place: How Music Can Make Your City Better), joining returning guests Patrick Daniel (Reeperbahn Festival) and Dev Sherlock (SXSW), with more to be revealed. Learn more about these industry leaders below, secure your spot for both the Summit and Showcase while you can (both are known to sell out), plus look forward to more announcements on the horizon...

"We're stoked to capitalise on the great achievements of past Going Global events by continuing to connect the world with New Zealand. This initiative deepens ties between our artists and the wider global industry. The impact of in-person interactions with industry speakers is immense, setting the stage for lasting professional relationships". - Dylan Pellett, General Manager of Independent Music New Zealand (IMNZ)
