Ducklingmonster 'I know......a...way...' Album Release Show Announced

Icon of Aotearoa 21st Century DIY electronics and catalytic force in our experimental music community, Ducklingmonster aka sound / visual artist Beth Dawson (of O/pus, Futurians, Rise Of The City Cat Cult and more) is launching her debut solo vinyl LP I know​.​.​.​.​.​.​a​.​.​.​way​.​.​. this coming Friday via Audio Foundation Records. Teased with the thunking textured lo-techno 'scapes of lead single 'Earth on Fire', launched earlier this month with mind-zapping layered visuals, Ducklingmonster will play a release event at Tāmaki Makaurau's Audio Foundation hub on 26th July, where you can nab an irl copy of the record to spin to your heart's content, joined for the occasion by Pumice and Paradox Princess. "'I know….a….way' is the first solo LP by Ducklingmonster aka Beth Dawson. Created during her 2023 Winter Residency at Tāmaki Makaurau’s Audio Foundation, 'I know….a….way’'weaves a disembodied playfulness - building its own environments through the materiality of creation.

Utilising a combination of scratched 45 records, broken beats emanating from a JVC boombox, field recordings of crashing oceans and Karangahape footpaths, electronic and vocal textures laid into walls of sonics - ‘I know….a….way’ revels in the forgotten, neglected and overlooked. This collage of damaged sounds shines a light on lost passages of real time and space."
