Spotlight: JP Cooper (UK) Auckland Headline Show

Chris Cudby / Monday 8th July, 2024 11:48AM

Embarking on an epic-length world tour taking up a significant chunk of 2024's second half, JP Cooper is touching down on our shores this November for a headline date at Auckland's The Powerstation. An in-demand collaborator who leant his soulful tones to DJ / producer Jonas Blue's 2016 global smash 'Perfect Strangers' (currently sitting at over a billion streams on Spotify), JP Cooper has worked with such iconic figures in pop as Craig David and Stormzy. The UK artist's solo career has given us his massive hit 'September Song' (which has achieved more than half a billion streams in its original form), a breakout single from his 2017 debut album Raised Under Grey Skies. JP Cooper followed through in 2022 with his sophomore record She, featuring soaring duet with Norwegian pop star Astrid S 'Sing It With Me', and the hitmaker has been dropping hints album number three is nearly here. Don't dare miss the songwriting force's only 2024 Aotearoa performance — brought to you by Destroy All Lines...

Press release:

JP Cooper has done the legwork. He spent many years working in bars and coffee shops, playing in bands and doing the rounds in the Manchester music circuit. He has written hundreds of songs as a solo artist as well as with a wide variety of collaborators, a couple of which became global hits that will not die. Perfect Strangers with Jonas Blue has over 2 billion worldwide streams to date, and his own September Song is now closing in on 1 billion worldwide streams, not to mention a handful of his own songs streaming in the 100’s of millions.

It is now 2024 and JP is poised to release his third album, the details for which are incoming but suffice to say it’s the sound of an artist developing, stretching, and reaching, both inwards and outwards. He has put in the work, reached the milestones and done himself proud. “And I’m only just getting started,” he promises.
