Louisa Nicklin Announces 'The Big Sulk' Album Release Tour + Shares Single 'Sleep It Off'

Known by those with ears to listen as one of Aotearoa's most preeminent songwriting voices, Louisa Nicklin has been a mainstay of Shayne P. Carter's stellar Dimmer live band, and was invited to join Mermaidens as fourth member on last year's album release tour. Carter has returned the favour by producing Nicklin's new solo album The Big Sulk, launching into our world with a five date tour taking the Tāmaki Makaurau artist and full band nationwide, commencing at Whakatū / Nelson's Boathouse on 6th September and brought to you by 100% Good.

Ruling our airwaves with the spectral squall of 'Thick', Nicklin's second single from the record 'Sleep It Off' is a somnambulistic twilight ballad — engulfing listeners with mysterious foglike tendrils of meditative guitar and glowing synth, as Nicklin croons "I was a moody child / turbulent and anxious." Joined by drummer Mason Fairey, bassist Eamon Edmundson-Wells, Durham Fenwick on synth and Carter on additional guitar, hit play on Nicklin's new song and look forward to The Big Sulk's full release on 23rd August...

Releasing on Friday 23 August The Big Sulk showcases the evolution of Nicklin as an artist. Written and recorded with more patience and consideration than her previous works, the album delves into themes of Nicklin’s relationships with people, stories of individuals within her orbit, and self-reflection. Each track is delivered with her searingly honest lyrics, dark, enveloping melodies, and instinctive guitar playing, making it an enticing cocktail of eight tracks.
