Listen To Joe Ghatt's New Album 'Caper' - Touring Nationwide
It's a Friday of significant returns, as Aotearoa psych-garage-pop practitioner Joe Ghatt bounds back like a cheery sunbeam through our grim wintery clouds with his first collection of tunes since 2019's Banana Sludge. Ghatt broadens his horizons to accommodate a global assortment of sonic inspirations on Caper — including Afro-Beat / Tropicalia / Bossa Nova / Peruvian / Latin American rhythms and melodies — citing a crystallising moment when drummer / percussionist Jonty O'Connor aka Zane 2000 become closely involved to bring the album to fruition.
Featuring SRN faves 'Always Remember', 'Orange October' and 'Pale Blue Dot' amongst six new numbers, Caper's multi-instrumental manoeuvres feel impeccably lush and inquisitive, each twist and turn brings a playful fresh element to catch your ear and move your hips to boogie. Mixed and mastered by John Lee (The Murlocs, Bananagun, Sunfruits) in Naarm, and out today via TESR, Echodelick Records (USA), and Six Tonne de Chair (France), go catch Joe Ghatt and friends celebrating Caper on a stage near you, and peep the new Making Caper mini-doco below...

“Seeing the silly side of everything helps when things are a bit dire. The word “Caper” kept popping up and the multiple meanings continued to resonate and stick. I think the word came to encompass what I was feeling when making the album.”
'Caper' is out today via TESR, Echodelick Records (USA) and Six Tonne de Chair (France) — order the vinyl LP HERE.
