beet-wix Unveils Debut Album 'CRYathlon' + Video
beet-wix, the never-soggy synth-punk project of Ōtepoti’s Lucy Pollock (RIOT GULL, Porpoise) has attempted to figuratively conquer land, wheels and sea with their debut album CRYathlon. Four new tunes emerge immediately after Tuesday's spellbinding ‘magic romance’, the punchy 'mindblock' and their SRN number one hit ‘slug level standards’. Tuck also into the other fresh tracks 'worms', ‘stuff this, ‘meltdown’ and ‘seventh heaven’, with emo vocals that sometimes remind me of Model Home’s Rachael Norcross. Today also sees a luscious new video for 'magic romance', directed by Sacha Skinner, starring beet-wix exploring the pigeons and their own playfulness in Dunedin's Botanic Gardens.
From tomorrow night beet-wix will tour the motu, first at Palmerston North’s The Stomach alongside showponi and Synthetic Children before continuing on their musical / emotional marathon of sorts. See who else is supporting below and listen to CRYathlon — crafted entirely using a Nintendo DS, plus added Korg Volca synth…
