Alain Johannes Announces Wellington Headline Show
There’s a strong chance you’ve already heard multi-instrumental Grammy-nominated force in music Alain Johannes — member of Eleven, Queens Of The Stone Age and Them Crooked Vultures, and producer / live bandmate with Chris Cornell, Mark Lanegan, PJ Harvey, No Doubt, Arctic Monkeys, and many more. Now, for the first time, the Chilean-US maestro will land in Pōneke for a not-to-be-missed performance showcasing his solo work in June.
“I often hear music in my dreams and have tried to hold on to it as I wake,” Johannes once mused. Having studied under jazz guitarist Joe Pass during his adolescence, members of his high school band Anthym similarly became renowned musicians, including Red Hot Chili Pepper’s Flea and original drummer Jack Irons. His tremendous career includes music written for films, video games and several solo records, with his most recent album Hum (Ipecac Recordings) offering him a spiritual catharsis in response to the death of his wife, Eleven vocalist / keyboardist Natasha Shneider. Wellingtonians get to experience Alain Johannes at Boneface Tavern next month, and perhaps be treated to songs from his upcoming long player too…
