Look Blue Go Purple to Receive IMNZ Classic Record + Best Independent Debut & Music Journalism Award Finalists Announced
Won by electronic pioneer micronism last year, Independent Music NZ have announced this year's recipient of the prestigious Classic Record accolade is Look Blue Go Purple for Compilation, released in 1991 via Flying Nun Records. The Ōtepoti-based all-wāhine collective of Francisca Griffin (previously known as Kathy Bull), Norma O'Malley, Lesley Paris, Denise Roughan and Kath Webster's pivotal collection was in fact a retrospective release, bundling together choice cuts from their Bewitched (1985), LBGPEP2 (1986) and This Is This (1988) EPs including such widely beloved numbers as 'Cactus Cat', 'Circumspect Penelope' and 'I Don't Want You Anyway' — later expanded with previously unreleased live tracks on 2017's Still Bewitched.
