Chile Wildfire Fundraiser Wellington Show Announced

Te-Whanganui-a-Tara musicians are circling up for a Latin rock night of six epic acts raising funds in support of those affected by recent Chilean wildfires, performing in Spanish and English. The Valparaíso region was ravaged by a deadly fire in February, damaging up to 6000 homes in what is believed to be Chile’s deadliest recorded fire.

This weekend, Newtown’s favourite bar and pizza parlour MOON is hosting a fundraiser gig for families directly impacted. On stage will be the indie rock of Mamalouder, Los Punkys and solo artist Oter, hip hop of Raul, plus Latin rock of Kaletta and DJ DESKIWOZIADO. Many of the musicians span from Chile, Salvador, Argentina and Colombia all the way to the Canary Islands. Recommended koha starts from $5 to $10 and there may even be prize draws of vouchers and goodies. Hi dear friends!

Not sure if you have heard about the wildfires in Chile (similar to what happened in Hawaii) where thousands of people lost everything and many others died or still unaccounted for. You can read more about it by searching 'Valparaiso, Chile on fire'

Well, we want to help from here, as many of us came from this long country called Chile, where we still have lots of friends and family. Therefore we have organised a Latin rock night to fundraise money, that we will collect from the entry, to go to Chilean families.

We are not putting an obligatory charge as entry, but are recommending $5 for concession and $10 waged, or whatever you can donate to this cause.

There will be local artists presenting their music. Most of the performances are in Spanish, or the bands have latin American members.
