Aotearoa International Festival of Secret Sounds 2024 - Audio Foundation 20th Anniversary
Championing the bleeding edge of sonic activity for two decades, Audio Foundation have revealed a sterling start for 2024. They've announced the "inauragural" Aotearoa International Festival of Secret Sounds, a humungous seven day and night programme of "amazing unusual music and sound art," happening in February as part of the Tāmaki Makaurau-based hub's 20th anniversary celebrations. Bringing together multiple generations of artists from Japan, France, Australia and all throughout NZ, the genre-incinerating bill is an open-eared listener's delight — straddling "free improvisation, noise, minimal drone, jazz skronk, invented instruments, outdoor installations, electronic microscoppery and unbelievable ululations combine and clash in a spirit of unbridled & fearless sonic skillduggery".
