'MEL Sample Library Collection: Kraus' Launched
Anyone who has access to a computer is a musician these days, but if you want to stand out from the pack, perhaps some fresh locally crafted sounds (or an entirely new methodology / conception of what music "is") could be just the ticket? MEL Sample Library Collection: Kraus is an excellent new resource from Audio Foundation Records, bundling together sampled sounds from the myriad variety of electronic devices donated to the Tāmaki Makaurau's Musical Electronics Library — available to download entirely for free or "name your price" (we say: reap the karmic benefits of donating). Created "by MEL founder and device-builder Pat Kraus exclusively using instruments from the library's collection", there are some incredibly handy, self-explanatory percussive and textural samples to help you to assemble your next electronic masterwork like a sonic house of cards in your DAW / hardware device of choice.
Complementing the sample pack's release, "the Musical Electronics Library at the Audio Foundation are running a free sampling workshop... hosted by Kraus and Hasji at The Audio Foundation" this coming Sunday, to keep in the loop head over HERE. Kraus is also performing at Audio Foundation's latest The Preauricular Pit event this Thursday, with Te Whanganui-a-Tara based ambient-pop artist Todd Luffa and Tamaki "conceptronica" / dance practitioner Pleasure Farming aka Kristian Larsen.
