Brother Sister Drop 'On A Roll' EP + Video
Zapping back into our brains and airwaves, Tāmaki Makaurau’s synth pop family band Brother Sister return with their new On A Roll EP. Nostalgia and electro-driven, siblings Dave (synth and lead vocals), Taz (bass and lead vocals) and Ben Thomson (drums) hone in on their sonic appreciation for '80s cartoons and cinema with six new songs. In today’s single / video for the title track, they wear balaclavas against a backdrop of vibrant colours, which help verbalise “the things we tell ourselves to lift our mental health”. With Seinfeld-esque bass, Dave and Taz team up on vocals again like the synchronised ladies of aerobic workout videos. The team treat us to additional instant hits like the anthem-ready ‘Hold On’, the sarcastic and scintillating ‘Holiday Home’, and the perspective-shifting ‘Take A Pill’.
Next week the Thomson trilogy light up Nelson’s East Street, before bringing the wonder to Lyttelton's Wunderbar and Tāmaki’s Wine Cellar. They’ll even be buzzing like neon on tour in Japan for Vibrant Vortex and a Take On Me - 80s Music Party late next month. Travel back to the “decade of decadence” now...
“For us this EP has been a fun journey and emotional outlet which has allowed us to celebrate our passion for '80s nostalgic soundscapes and memorabilia in keeping with the bands theme but branching into new sounds and textures we have been itching to use.”
