Watch Clementine Valentine's Video For New Single 'The Rope'
The art-pop sisterhood of Clementine Valentine (formerly Purple Pilgrims) are touring nationwide in September, celebrating their upcoming debut album The Coin That Broke The Fountain Floor out 25th August via Flying Nun Records. The Coromandel-based siblings share their new single ‘The Rope’ and its intimately monochromatic video made with the support of NZ On Air. Directed by PICTVRE (Veronica Crockford-Pound and Joseph Griffen), the cascading shadow work of reaching hands and taut strings bring to life the woven vocals of the pair amongst the primitive percussion of Matt Chamberlain (session drummer for Perfume Genius, David Bowie and Bruce Springsteen). This seeks to impose both a tranquillity yet unease, which is characteristic of the common dichotomies of Clementine Valentine’s writing. Such breathtaking contrasts could break more than just the fountain floor, perhaps the stage too. Make your wishes real even before the tour, at their show with Roy Montgomery at Word Chch '23, the evening after their inaugural record's release…
