Listen To Queens Of The Stone Age's New Album 'In Times New Roman...'
Written during a tumultuous period for frontman Josh Homme, who talked about his recent battles with cancer with Revolver, Queens Of The Stone Age reemerge triumphant with their eighth studio opus In Times New Roman..., out in the world today after six years between long players. Launched with a Midnight Club shindig at Auckland's Real Groovy last night (the first region in the world the hear the record), In Times New Roman… feels as rowdy, rugged and massive as one might expect from the US rock overlords, whose lineup for the the album includes Troy Van Leeuwen, Dean Fertita, Michael Shuman and Jon Theodore.
Busting out riffs to die for and enough searing guitar tones to keep gearheads urgently researching online for months at least, QOTSA honour their desert rock roots while expressing deep-seated love for glam, boogie, prog-psych, motorik and even angular new wave — verging into Devo / Six Finger Satellite territory on 'What The Peephole Say', and taking off into the distance with closing multi-part nine minute epic 'Straight Jacket Fitting'. Homme's unmistakable vocals sound fresh, crisp and even a little witchy despite his past few years of adversity, gliding like an eagle atop all the ruckus. Laid down at Homme’s Pink Duck, get amongst In Times New Roman... by hitting play below, check out the new video for 'Carnavoyeur' directed by Liam Lynch (Sifl and Olly), and cast a magic spell for local shows...
'In Times New Roman...' is out today digitally, on vinyl LP and CD via Matador Records.
