RATSO are the Tāmaki Makaurau rock 'n' roll rat king collective of Johnny (tambourine / hi jinks), Tomi (guitar), Alex (drums), Jake (guitar / singing) and Bruno (bass and growling), who uncaged their debut album LIVE IN ŌTAUTAHI over the weekend with a hometown rager at Big Fan. As the title suggests, RATSO's first official record documents their garden city appearance last November at Christchurch Town Hall, where they were special guest supports for Detroit superstar Jack White. They represented Aotearoa's garage-punk legacy admirably in the historic venue — at once point shouting out an arm's length list of local heroes — furiously unleashing such in-the-red anthems as 'Arseholes & Bullshit', 'Loose End', 'Shakedown' and lead single 'Live For Nothing' for an up-for-it capacity crowd, closing with seven minute plus swamp-boogie behemoth 'Hurricane'.
