Listen To Ringlets' Self-Titled Debut Album
Arising from seemingly the ether to cause a commotion in Tāmaki Makaurau and beyond, Ringlets unveiled earlier this week their self-titled debut album via Massachusetts-based imprint Mutual Skies. Scrappy and angular, cacophonous yet never undisciplined, the post-punk crew's first official long player has been praised as "a monster that’s at once intelligent, exciting, and deadly serious about your enjoyment" by the eminently tasteful Matthew Crawley over at the 100% Good blog, who went on to gush "they're unbelievable live". High energy earworm 'Sever' is the tip of the iceberg — the ten track collection unfolds as a confidently crafted offering replete with sonic details to snag passersby like wire hooks on a schoolbag, while lyrics like "I used to paint / But I never was very good" hit like a tonne of bricks. Co-produced by the group with De Stevens (who mixed the record) and mastered by Jonathan Pearce of The Beths, you can catch the team of László Reynolds, Leith Towers, Arlo Grey, and Arabella Poulsen celebrating their fab new creation at Big Fan on 14th April with Ballot Box and JUNIOR JUNIOR...
