Ponsonby Social Club 15th Birthday Events Announced For March
Raising a glass to a decade and a half of bringing the good times to Tāmaki Makaurau's Ponsonby Road, the team at Ponsonby Social Club have announced an absolute doozy of a 15th birthday celebration, embracing a diversity of musical styles from jazz, soul, hip hop, Brazilian, Afrobeat to Balkan. The lineup for March includes such mega-talents as Leonard Charles Trio (Jeremy Toy with Chip Matthews and Tom Broome) performing sets with the Sami Sisters, Tyra Hammond and Bjorn Peterson, A Live Tribute To De La Soul performed by members of Avantdale Bowling Club and Yoko-Zuna, Indian / jazz / world music collective Takadimi led by tabla master Manjit Singh, nine piece Balkan brass band Niko Ne Zna, Southern African afro-funk and jazz saxophonist Thabani Gapara, South Africa-born R&B / soul / jazz artist Keshia and even more.
