Vera Ellen Shares Single 'Carpenter' + Announces NZ Tour

Everything's coming up Vera Ellen! Not long ago named Best Alternative Artist at the Aotearoa Music Awards and fresh from a captivating opening set at Marlon Williams' Civic show, Vera Ellen and her band share news of a nationwide tour and announce they've got another whole album up their sleeve. The Pōneke-based pop-rocker will be unveiling their sophomore effort Ideal Home Noise at the end of March this year, which will be their second release on legendary label Flying Nun after unleashing stunner LP It's Your Birthday in October 2021, and will also feature Radio New Zealand’s Best Singles of 2022 track 'Homewrecker'.

As if the news couldn't get any better, Vera Ellen has also lifted the lid on lead single 'Carpenter', a bolshie and beautiful song about asking for help when you need it. The track lands alongside a Sports Team-produced video made with support from NZ On Air and directed by me, Annabel Kean (UTR acting editor by day, Sports Team creative director also by day). "We are all quietly fighting our own battles. There is a "feeling I get about having to fight them alone, keeping them close to my chest in shame. But I think we really all need to learn how to lean on each other. We would be more compassionate people, if we had the slightest window into someone else's experience; their pain, their fear, their life. Carpenter is inspired by that. It's a desperate cry, but there's a triumph in being able to ask for help."
