Voom + Fazerdaze Share Single / Video 'Magic'
Playing launch events in Tāmaki Makaurau and Pōneke this weekend for her first collection of tunes in five years Break!, Fazerdaze aka Amelia Murray has ramped up the release schedule somewhat, unveiling today a collaborative single with Aotearoa indie-rock royalty Voom — for their first official new release since 2006! Sounding like a timeless summer hit from the word go, Murray and Voom helmsman Buzz Moller (who also contributed to Break!) sound deeply jaded yet freshly reenergised and ready to embrace the future once more, chanting "You put the magic in me" while whipping up a fuzzy frenzy, with help from guitarist Murray Fisher (Voom, Goodshirt), bass player Nick Buckton, and drummer Josh Sorenson.
Elevating their superstar collab into the stratosphere, Voom and Fazerdaze's deranged accompanying video directed by Ezra Simons depicts an obsessed Murray stalking an unsuspecting Moller (rocking a tee for Voom's classic tune 'We're So Lost', on the Flying Nun-reissued Hello, Are You There?) and essentially replacing him. An absolute treat for fans of the legendary group — hit play on the clip for Voom's 'Magic' featuring Fazerdaze made with support from NZ On Air, don't miss Fazerdaze this weekend (I wonder if they'll play the new song?), head along to Flying Nun's Beautiful Things all-star event on Saturday for a special Voom set, and go catch Buzz Moller performing solo as part of Hollywood Cinema's swish new Sunday matinee series Deadly Dreams Presents: The Hollywood Sunday Sessions...
