Roy Montgomery / Orchestra Of Spheres Wellington Show Announced
Travelling northwards for an exceptionally rare Te Whanganui-a-Tara event, Ōtautahi legend Roy Montgomery will perform alongside the capital's cosmic explorers Orchestra of Spheres at Karori's Futuna Chapel on 3rd December. Founder of The Pin Group (whose 1981 single 'Ambivalence' was the first Flying Nun release) and co-founder of such sonically boundless ensembles as Dadamah, Hash Jar Tempo and Dissolve, Montgomery's forthcoming double album Camera Melancholia is "inspired by and dedicated to Kerry McCarthy (1967-2021) who was Roy's partner for twenty years and the mother of two children they had together" — launching on 25th November via New York imprint Ba Da Bing Records.
Making a welcome return to the realm of live performance, Orchestra Of Spheres will present a new site-specific work "featuring crystal bowls, reel-to-reel tapes, and modular synth drones." An absolute treat for open-eared gig-goers, check out the details for this special mid-afternoon show presented by Pyramid Club below...
