DARTZ Announce Debut Album + Share Single '40 Riddiford Street' (New Version)
Te Whanganui-a-Tara's DARTZ spark up your Friday with the stonkin' news that not only will their long-awaited debut album be finally unveiled to the world on 4th November, but it will releasing via Aotearoa's legendary Flying Nun Records. Gathering together six anthems from the DARTZ songbook freshly re-recorded at Roundhead Studios with producer Steven Marr plus two new future classics, the team of Danz, Rollyz, Crispy and Clark Mathews proudly rep their hometown on their first official long player The Band from Wellington, New Zealand. Recipients of the inaugural SRN Award for Favourite Group, DARTZ have today unleashed a brand new version of renter's nightmare singalong '40 Riddiford Street’, hitting the bullseye with such darkly resonant lines as "I haven't done meth but now there's no stopping me / Coz I pay rent on the set of Trainspotting 3".
Featuring killer cover art by renowned comics artist and illustrator Danz aka Daniel Vernon, TBfW,NZ will be available digitally, on compact disc and standard black or limited edition ‘Lion Brown’ vinyl LP (preorders HERE). In signature DARTZ style, they'll be crushing it in Tāmaki Makaurau this Saturday at the Going Global Artist Showcase, head along and smash play below...
"With this album, I feel like we’ve done right not only by the dedicated DARTZ fans who we love so much and who deserve this quality, but also by the songs themselves — I truly believe that every single song performance on here is up there as the best we’ve ever done.” — Danz
“It really was a bit too fancy for us... On some level it just felt wrong to waltz into such a nice studio with our cheap beer and start playing songs about shitty Wellington flats and MDMA - but Steven [Marr, producer] was such a legend, he put so much care and time into everything from set-up to mixing, so we didn’t have to worry about anything apart from smashing Browns and smashing out these songs.” — Clark Mathews
