The Beths Drop Single / Video 'Knees Deep'
Taking the plunge with album number three Expert In A Dying Field out in September, The Beths have shared new single 'Knees Deep', plus an action-packed Sports Team-directed video made with support from NZ On Air. Depicting what's presumably a typical day for the Tāmaki Makaurau-based team of Elizabeth Stokes, Jonathan Pearce, Benjamin Sinclair and Tristan Deck, band practise gets disrupted when usually reliable bassist Sinclair is distracted by a flyer promising free bungy jumps off Auckland Harbour Bridge. Next thing you know, everybody's sneaking away to indulge in Aotearoa's favourite extreme sports past-time. A snazzy and emotive power-pop reflection on wanting to feel brave and trying to overcome (sometimes irrational) personal fears, The Beths make practise and bungy jumping both look super fun and not scary at all in their clip for 'Knees Deep'. Hit play and don't miss their album release tour this spring...
“I'm the kind of person who wants to go swimming but takes like ten minutes to get all the way into the cold water, slowly and painfully. I hate this about myself, and am kind of envious of people who can just jump straight in the deep end. In a shocking twist, this is also a metaphor?! For how I wish I was the kind of person who was brave and decisive instead of cautious and scared.” — Elizabeth Stokes
