Watch Eyeliner's Animated Video For 'Drop Shadow'
Presently based in rural Ōtautahi following a multi-year stay in cosmopolitan Hong Kong, Aotearoa electronic producer Eyeliner aka Luke Rowell (aka Disasteradio) has reunited with Walters Prize nominated video artist Simon Ward for an spellbinding new collaboration. The title track to Eyeliner's 2020 MIDI-pop opus, which is receiving a lux double vinyl LP reissue courtesy of globally influential US imprint Orange Milk (order your copy HERE), Ward's animated video for 'Drop Shadow' follows a yellow dancing cyclopean figure on a subway train journey into wild and weird underground realms — busting out party-starting motion-captured moves performed by Alana Yee. Fingers crossed Tāmaki Makaurau's forthcoming City Rail Link will offer similar delights, watch below...
"I had just about finished writing this in NZ and the sections of the tune are marked by samples of subway trains, implying a kind of underground adventure — once I got to Hong Kong and was riding the subway it all made a lot more sense.
It has been a true pleasure working again with good friends and long-time collaborators Simon and Alana, a real dream team! The video as a whole is exactly the sprawling and fun escapade that I had in my head while writing it.” — Luke Rowell
Eyeliner's 2020 album 'Drop Shadow' is available on limited edition double vinyl LP plus bonus tracks via Orange Milk — orders available HERE.
