Baby Zionov Drops Single 'Henrietta's Melancholy'
Baby Zionov aka Aaliyah Zionov opens up a can of killer funk grooves on 'Henrietta's Melancholy', the synthetic bass-slappin' third single from the Tāmaki Makaurau electronic artist's forthcoming new album Henrietta. Out today in free-flowing original form as well as a DJ-friendly Dream House Version, 'Henrietta's Melancholy' both sets the scene for and embodies great times out and about — with the singer / producer's spoken wordplay reflecting on the endless quest for transcendent, out of body dancefloor experiences...
"This funky little tune was designed as sort of a miniature DJ set, taking you through the trajectory of a whole night out in less than 5 minutes.
The beat and bass stay pretty consistent while the textures and moods surrounding them come and go. The first half is pure disco boogie-shoes party time, but in the second half it slowly gets sparser and more intimate.
It’s the musical equivalent of when everyone’s left the party and it’s just you and the girls sitting on the floor having deep and meaningfuls in between nangs." — Baby Zionov
