How Get Return With 'Te Waea Moana' EP
One third Carb On Carb and two thirds Long Distance Runner, Tāmaki Makaurau trio How Get have returned with their first fresh new material since 2017's This Isthmus EP. Recorded by James Dansey (of Chabs and Milky fame) and mixed by Harry Lilly (First Move), Te Waea Moana (the ocean cable) showcases lyrics written entirely in te reo Māori by frontman James Stuteley. Reflecting on friendship, dynamite lead single and closing anthem 'Te tai pari' (high tide) is already sitting at the number one spot on Radio Control's Top Ten and the first two tunes are equally as energising — a tightly wound explosion of spiky guitar / drums and uplifting melodies on 'Te Tai Timu' (low tide), and venturing into math-rock realms with the abrupt rhythmic heft of 'E pao, Tōrea' (Strike, oystercatcher!). Crossed fingers live shows are on the horizon soon as these songs would clearly slay on-stage, listen up here...
'Te Waea Moana' is out now via Papaiti Records.
