Noa Records Unveil Suns Alibi's 'Live At Deep Dive Festival'

As is expected when you lose all understanding of the passage of time, my brain just did a full double flip upon realising Deep Dive 2021 happened on the 10th of July, just one month before the current lockdown. That's four whole months since attendees packed into Whammy Bar, Backroom and Wine Cellar to catch hot local acts like Princess Chelsea, Samara Alofa, Night Lunch, PollyHill, Dartz, HALFQUEEN and more — and now we can listen back to one of the most memorable sets of the night, Noa Records affiliated one-off seven piece band Suns Alibi.

Led by David Feauai-Afaese of LEAO, the Suns Alibi collective's only plan was to "meditate over a drone tone at the beginning of the performance" until Feauai-Afaese cued the launch into their first performance. He never did give the cue, but the cast of multi-disciplinary artists Riki Gooch, Jeff Henderson, Parks, Larsen Tito-Taylor, Navakatoa Tekela-Pule and Abigail Aroha Jensen rose to the occasion for a one-of-a-kind improvised set.
