Listen To Fält, Rothenberg & Thorne's Album 'Faultlines'
Well known to UTR readers for his groundbreaking work with electronic artist Fis (including a room-shaking performance at last year's Catacombs club event at The Civic Wintergarden), taonga pūoro practitioner Rob Thorne (Ngāti Tumutumu) has a fresh full length collaborative release out through Seventh House Music, a new imprint from Aotearoa contemporary music stalwarts Rattle. Featuring thirteen improvisational works by Thorne with Swedish experimental folk vocalist Anna Fält and US musician / philosopher David Rothenberg (Marilyn Crispell, Suzanne Vega, Pauline Oliveros) on flute and clarinet, Faultlines was recorded in 2019 while the trio were attending the WOMEX-19 music expo in Finland — then mixed, manipulated and treated by Rattle's Steve Garden in Ōtautahi before last week's unveiling. Evident masters of their forms, the international trio of Fält, Rothenberg and Thorne use traditional instrumentation and voice to take us through exploratory new realms on the crystalline, contemplative, and ever-inventive long player. Rattle are generously giving away CD / download editions of Faultlines plus a swish "Shut Up & Listen" t-shirt, you can enter by heading over to their site HERE and do as they say by hitting play below...
'Faultlines' is out now digitally and on CD via Seventh House Music.
