Best Bets Drop Single 'Crystal Mausoleum' + Announce Debut Album
Named after the mass of fallen Mt. Everest climbers frozen on the peak for the rest of time, Best Bets' new track 'Crystal Mausoleum' notes an epic beginning to their forthcoming debut album On An Unhistoric Night. Busting out power pop hooks with a gleeful gusto reminiscent of North Island pals The Situations, you'll be bopping along to the Ōtautahi-based team of Olly Crawford-Ellis, James Harding, Matt Phimmavanh and Joe Sampson's thoughtful reflection on the folly of man — produced, mixed and mastered by studio wiz Brian Feary. The new album is set to drop on 2022 via Melted Ice Cream and word on the street is there's even more singles on the way ooh la la, here's what they have to say about the record...
"‘On An Unhistoric Night’ talks about New Jack Swing artists who were formerly Olympic athletes; 11th century monarchs; Italian sports cars (and car salesmen); Open Polytechnic ads of the late 90s; Whose Line is it Anyway?; Subbuteo champions and Elvis impersonators. It explores hubris, hopelessness and purpose in life, pop culture detritus, everyday ennui, underpinned by humour, guitar heroics and catchy bloody hooks."
'Crystal Mausoleum' is out now via major streaming services.
