Speech Act Theory Share Single / Video 'Grief Wave'
The Tāmaki Makaurau-based electronica project of producer / musician Pete Hickman with drummer Ben Bradford, Speech Act Theory have unveiled their atmospheric second single 'Grief Wave', in collaboration with vocalist Hannah Owen Wright and director Andrew Carvè. A moody sonic meditation on feelings of personal loss, the track's glistening electronics are brought to visual life in the glitched-out clip — combining zoomed-in, fractal-like natural imagery with a hi-tech distressed digital sheen. The rapid-fire follow up to August's debut single 'Holding Out' (scroll downwards to listen), Speech Act Theory are celebrating their single's launch with a headline gig lined up at Whammy Backroom for 27th November, supported by VÏKÆ and Kool with a K. "The track is about the turbulence you go through when losing someone or something... The moments of intense sorrow followed by moments of surrender. The idea of being thrown around like a rag doll in a storm in the sea and being washed up exhausted but with a calm."
