The Forbin Project Drops Trip Hop 'Black Moon' EP
The latest in an ongoing series of lockdown EPs from Tāmaki Makaurau electronic artist Amelia Berry (Amamelia, Old Chips), The Forbin Project moves from the dancefloor to the chill out zone for third offering Black Moon. Drawing inspiration this time around from the blunted beat-scapes of the '90s Trip Hop era, the new three track collection is like a sonic departure lounge to cinematic destinations of the mind. The space age exotica of lead instrumental 'Winter Heliotrope' could well be a bonus track on my long-beloved Wall Of Pussy record, the Morricone-like melodrama of 'Slow Fade' casts fellow Van Staden & Böhm (VSB) member Mazzy as the singer of a stylish European spy soundtrack, and closer 'Chocolate Wrapper' recalls to these ears the dope mutant jazz stylings of interstitial BBC World segments of yesteryear. Blaze up Black Moon here...
