Listen To Muroki's ‘Rehurehu / Wavy’ - Waiata Anthems Week
It's a damn fine week to see in a tidal wave of te reo Māori versions of stellar New Zealand tracks for this year's Waiata Anthems roll out, and a fine day to highlight one of my favourites of said tunes — Muroki's ‘Rehurehu / Wavy’. First dropped in February this year as one of the lead singles off his debut EP Dawn, 'Wavy' is the perfect choice for a te reo refresh with its dangerously catchy chorus and now a cool 1.5-million Spotify streams. With his star rising fast in the Aotearoa pop scene and a priceless spot signed to Benee's Olive Records, I'm stoked to see ‘Rehurehu / Wavy’ on the list of new Waiata Anthems releases, alongside Troy Kingi, Ria Hall, Anna Coddington, Georgia Lines and more. The translated track arrives with a suitably wavy lyric video created by Riley Coughlin, and is the best way to simultaneously practice your Te Reo and sing along...
