No Romance Unveil Debut EP 'Unfold'
Between this and the gleeful experience of returning my neighbour's adorable lost puppy, Berlin / Aotearoa three piece No Romance have made this morning feel extra TGIF with the release of their debut EP Unfold. Beneath its delightfully grotesque fleshy, floral cover art, Lucy Holliday, Isaac Hickey (Astro Children) and Joel Ivan Thomas have created four killer sad-girl pop tracks, mastered by Tāmaki titan Amelia Berry, recorded by Paria Kadir and Barak Shem-Tov, and featuring bonus synth and bass contributions from Nick Roughan and Theo Taylor. Holliday's stunner pipes are the perfect balladic match for No Romance's unstoppable '80s overtones, with opener 'Before' especially fit for a heavily saturated, Kate Bush style visual treatment. Unravel the epic gloom of Unfold here...
