Listen To Roy Montgomery's 'Pranged' From New Album 'That Best Forgotten Work'
It's a bit of a rare treat to hear Roy Montgomery's (The Pin Group, Dadamah and Dissolve) rumbling baritone over his exploratory compositions, and in three weeks time we'll have an entire album of just that, beginning with lead single 'Pranged'. That Best Forgotten Work will be the second release in a four-part 40th anniversary series launched by Montgomery, naturally coinciding with Flying Nun's 40th anniversary given he was The Pin Group frontman — the label's first or second ever recorded band, an exact factoid long lost to fuzzy memories. Either way, it's pretty cool that Roy Montgomery is still experimenting with new sounds four decades down the line, an approach that shines through on the first album in this series Island Of Lost Souls, a package of four world-building dedications. Out July 16th on Ba Da Bing Records' sister label Grapefruit, That Best Forgotten Work will feature Carpenters and Tim Buckley covers, as well as Montgomery's devastating tongue-in-cheek lyricism...
Roy Montgomery's 'That Best Forgotten Work' is out Friday 16th July via Grapefruit Records.
