Asta Rangu Drop Single / Video 'Nico'
Moody Ōtepoti quartet Asta Rangu wrap up what they describe as a period of "bridging singles" with the release of crunchy new track 'Nico'. Recorded in the same Chicks Hotel session as January release 'I Dream', in 'Nico' songwriter Richard Ley-Hamilton questions the worth of nostalgia, on which he's said "In a sense, our tendency to reminisce colours and revalues our present, and in doing so, we revive old narratives at the expense of progress". The visual element to the song follows a pedestrian's journey through monochromatic Dunedin, before director and Asta Rangu bassist Angus McBryde flips the timeline and throws Ley-Hamilton and his surroundings back into full colour. While we have to wait a little longer yet before their debut album is out early 2022, right now you can wrap your ears around ripsnorting new track 'Nico'...
