Marlowe Shares '90s Montage Clip For Debut Single 'Nostalgic'
In less than two weeks "rock n roll nerd" Marlowe will be painting The Thirsty Dog head to toe in '90s bliss to celebrate his debut single 'Nostalgic'. The track is unapologetically hot for 1990 and the years either side of it — just Marlowe's gravelly voice and his guitar wading eyeballs-deep into an ode for 80s kids. The video is a crystal clear visualisation of the pop-culture associated with feelings of innocence for many an "'80s kid", from the world-shattering moment of Thingee's eye falling out, to the fun-for-one chatter ring fad. To drive the 90s immersion home, attendees of Marlowe's May show will receive a comic book on entry thanks to Arkham City Comics — light reading material to enjoy between talented support acts Echo Children, Looking For Alaska and Mikey Havoc. Press Release:
Marlowe is a songwriter and musician from Tāmaki Makaurau. Drawing on pop sensibilities, Marlowe creates tender melodic hooks with layered vocals and an acoustic guitar. There’s a scratchy lived in texture to Marlowe’s alt indie songs. They tell stories of love, loss, isolation and the passage of time. You can hear the influences of Bruce Springsteen, Smokey Robinson, Chris Wollard, and The National in his sound. Marlowe is currently working on his new album, to be released later this year.
NOSTALGIC
Nostalgic is a 90’s style pop tune with some catchy sing along hooks, fun lyrics, and Weezer style guitar leads. Produced and mixed by Micah Livesay, Nostalgic was mixed down to a 4-track to give it that authentic yesteryear tape hiss sound.
