Roy Irwin Unveils 'The Comedian' EP
The first set of new songs out under their own name since last February 2020's exceptional self-titled album, Roy Irwin's two track The Comedian EP explores the vulgarities of everyday life as a Tāmaki Makaurau-based "entertainer". Recently spotted performing live with Babyteeth and N.T. Honey, Irwin gently croons a list of unglamorous and frankly upsetting factoids in the scathing title track, searching for dignity in a swathe of darkly romantic guitar strum and deep reverbed ambience, while 'Morningside' serves up a perfectly formed slice of dazed suburban dreaminess. The Comedian offers a different but no less captivating side of the creative coin to the NO-CLIP member's recent electronic output under the name of Umami Spice, whose debut angel EP dropped a mere two weeks ago — delve into both collections below...
