Dry Cleaning Cover Grimes' 'Oblivion' On 4AD's 'Bills & Aches & Blues EP3'
The third chapter of 4AD's all-star 40th anniversary collection Bills & Aches & Blues is out today, sporting covers of tunes from throughout the always impeccably designed UK imprint's pioneering back catalogue. EP3 includes such significant figures as Future Islands covering Colourbox’s 'The Moon Is Blue', Jenny Hval reimagining shoegaze legends Lush’s 'Sunbathing' and Deerhunter’s Bradford Cox getting all soundscapey with The Breeders’ 'Mountain Battles', but our attention was immediately drawn to South London post-punks Dry Cleaning's faded and fuzzily minimal take on Grimes' 'Oblivion', which was ubiquitous when it launched back in the hyperreal days of 2012 — when vaporwave was new and witch house was "a thing". No one could foresee how the future would pan out, clean out your earholes with Dry Cleaning's pretty bloody great version of 'Oblivion' and stream Bills & Aches & Blues EP3 below...
'Bills & Aches & Blues' is out Friday 2nd April digitally, and physically Friday 23rd July.
