Listen To Carnivorous Plant Society Present: 'The Plants'
Sprung from the same mind that gave us 2019's wonderful and weird album / comic book double whammy The People Below, bandleader Finn Scholes' Carnivorous Plant Society project has beamed out six new tunes, launch just in time for a headline performance tonight at The Civic Theatre for Auckland Arts Festival. Described as "New music from a new band within another band," the evocative instrumental numbers dished up on Carnivorous Plant Society present The Plants are dedicated to the continent of South America — featuring Scholes on a dazzling array of instrumentation, joined by bandmates for the occasion Michael Barker, Tam Scholes, Eric Scholes and fellow Love Square member Nick Atkinson on saxophone. They say The Plants is "the perfect accompaniment to backyard weight lifting, drawing homemade tattoos or jungle rafting," and as an avid enthusiast in all those areas I personally can't disagree. Hit play on the stream below and catch them this evening with special guests Tiny Ruins and Hopetoun Brown, before they hit the South Island for shows in Oamaru, Lyttelton and Picton...
