Mara TK, former frontman of Electric Wire Hustle, has unleashed slick funk / soul track ‘Highly Medicated’, the third single from his forthcoming debut solo album Bad Meditation. The new drop follows 2020 collaboration 'Met At The River' with Kenyan neo-soul singer Xenia Manasseh, which was rolled out by label and social enterprise Extra Soul Perception in November. ‘Highly Medicated’ also introduces Mara TK's link-up with Aotearoa's Years Gone By Records, who have teamed up with TK to release Bad Meditation on vinyl in May. “I tried everything to plug up the void: antidepressants, molly, acid, hiking, running, dancing, Ritalin, one-night stands, six-month stands, spending money on jackets, airfares for bad friends, and so on. Eventually I shut everyone out and I was finally alone. I takoto tūpāpaku au. I would put on videos of the old people here talking - interviews with my elders.
