Premiere: Jazmine Mary Shares Single / Video 'Dancer' + Announces Debut Album

The grimsical video for Jazmine Mary's brand new song 'Dancer' reads like the punchline to a bad joke along the lines of "What does a clown do on their day off?" but I'm not really sure what the answer is. Something about ten clowns in a miniature boat? Get back to me on that one, because what's really important here is that the excellent Jazmine Mary (fka Him.) has released new music, and it's the first single from their debut album The Licking Of A Tangerine. Also new is the latest Jazmine Mary band member, Peter Ruddell of Wax Chattels and Sulfate fame, who added keys to the mix when the album was recorded at Roundhead Studios late last year, along with Courtney Rodgers on drums and Dave Kahn cameoing on strings.

In classic Jazmine Mary music video stylings, the artist and co-director Rodgers sailed atop Manukau Harbour in a ramshackle dingy, fresh salt air whipping Mary's heavily painted clown face as she sang her hauntingly sad, albeit beautiful song. When The Licking Of A Tangerine is out in full next month, Jazmine Mary will celebrate their grand debut with a Wine Cellar show, featuring Louisa Nicklin and more joining in on the festivities.
