Listen To Cynthia & Dupree's 'Future Plant Music' EP
Where Mort Garson's hugely popular 1976 record Mother Earth's Plantasia is an addicting document of vintage flora-friendly electronica, Cynthia & Dupree gesture towards the unknown on their new Future Plant Music EP, launched late last week via Aotearoa / Berlin imprint Fantasy Fiction Records. "Post-human artist & sonic herbologist" Cynthia (an artistic avatar of Mitchell James O'Sullivan of Aporia) released a similarly environmentally-minded long player in mid-2020 via the champs at Cosmic Compositions, returning here with a lush collection of tunes in collaboration with Parisian scientist and composer Dr. F Dupree. All four tracks draw aural inspiration from the aforementioned Garson as well as Japanese ambient music pioneer Hiroshi Yoshimura, and provide immersive enjoyment for plants and (post) humans alike, sounding at times not worlds away from the sonic reflections of Tāmaki's Green Grove — listen up here...
