Power Nap Drops Single 'Club Dinos' + Announces Album
It's finally happened, Was (Not Was) classic 'Walk The Dinosaur' has been knocked off its reigning #1 spot on the Dino Dance Charts, ousted by Tāmaki's own cold-blooded beat slinger Power Nap and his foot-stomping new cut 'Club Dinos'. Inexplicably pronounced 'club dee-knows', the pumping synth track is the first fresh tune we've heard from Chris Cudby's (ahem, UTR editor) solo project since Power Nap's 2019 debut album Shaped Canvas, and it's the lead drop from his next album: DINOSAURS. Perhaps recorded 100-million years ago in a Jurassic dive bar and zapped back to the 21st century, as suggested by this here culpable comic, the collection will hit the stands early 2021 on local label Sunreturn. True to form, Cudby cites "British Jazz Funk and Japanese City Pop" as key influences for 'Club Dinos', with composition inspo drawn from experimental '90s animation series Liquid Television. Open the door, get on the floor, everybody 'Club Dinos'...
