Fleet Foxes Reveal New Album 'Shore'
With zero hints prior to release, Fleet Foxes have thrilled fans by shadow dropping their new album Shore, the Seattle crew's first studio long player since 2017's Crack-Up. Out today (marking the autumnal equinox in the northern hemisphere) on major streaming platforms and launching physically in February, the fifteen track collection is a reliably lush affair — initially inspired by frontman Robin Pecknold’s love for the life-affirming sounds of Arthur Russell, Nina Simone, Sam Cooke, Emahoy Tsegué-Maryam Guebrou and more. If the deluge of new tunes is somehow not enough to whet your Fleet Foxes whistle, they've also unveiled an accompanying full length 16mm road movie also named Shore by Kersti Jan Werda that you can experience over on the Fleet Foxes's website here.
Robin Pecknold opened up about the themes explored on Shore: “I see “shore” as a place of safety on the edge of something uncertain, staring at Whitman’s waves reciting ‘death... Tempted by the adventure of the unknown at the same time you are relishing the comfort of the stable ground beneath you. This was the mindset I found, the fuel I found, for making this album.”
'Shore' is out now on major streaming platforms, releasing physically on 5th February via Anti-.
