Watch Julia Deans Perform 'To L.H.B' (Katherine Mansfield Poem) Live At The Shelter
With Julia Deans' solo South Island tour happily still on track to hit Christchurch, Dunedin, Invercargill and Queenstown (with Laughton Kora) in socially distanced form, the ex-Fur Patrol songwriter has gifted fans footage of two tunes recorded live at "secret music venue" The Shelter for RNZ Music. Showcasing the artist's rendition of Katherine Mansfield's elegiac 1916 poem 'To L.H.B' (featured on the star-studded recent Mansfield compilation) and an intimate version of Fur Patrol classic 'Lydia', both clips provide gorgeously stripped back takes on what to look forward to when Deans hits the stage this week.
Julia Deans hinted via social media today that something big involving Fur Patrol is brewing, sharing a clip of the band chatting via Zoom with the words: "first time in 13-ish years that all four of us have clapped eyes on each other at the same time... clearly something is fur-menting!!!!!"
