Girl Friday Share Single / Video 'Public Bodies'
LA pop-punks Girl Friday are drip feeding fans off-kilter pop tracks from their upcoming debut full-length Androgynous Mary, along with a string of lo-fi, tongue-in-cheek clips to match. The latest single 'Public Bodies' ups the tempo and doubles the grit, exploring themes of self care and self destruction, which the band boiled down to the idea that "In being blind or complacent, we unknowingly ourselves cause harm both invisibly and externally". The video, directed by none other than Tāmaki Makaurau-based creative Gussie Larkin (Mermaidens, Earth Tongue), stylises self-preservation as an autonomous, needy house plant. Girl Friday band member and Pōneke local Vera Ellen, who released her own solo EP last week, features front and centre as a distressed plant mum who just can't win.
