Soda Boyz Share Single 'Bad Friend' + Announce Album 'Farewell Spit'
Slowcore trio Soda Boyz have announced their new album Farewell Spit is on the way and divulge first single 'Bad Friend'. The record follows up their 2016 debut EP By Soda Boyz, and is the result of two and a half years of music making between Pōneke and Te Papaioea, culminating in Blue Barn and The Surgery recording sessions with James Goldsmith. The first drop from the LP, 'Bad Friend' is a lovably haphazard exploration into the importance and fragility of friendships. Vocalist Felix Carr flickers around buzzy bass and guitar, sometimes lazily self-deprecating, building into a highly relatable, melodramatic screaming fest, driving home the band's explanation of the song being "about honesty and friendship, and when those things break down". The full album is out at the end of the month on Papaiti Records, with a vinyl release looking likely too. Experience the first of many emo Soda Boyz ballads below, and consider reconnecting with an estranged friend...
'Farewell Spit' is out Friday 29th May via Papaiti Records.
