Listen To 'Two Daze 2020, Pt. 1' Feat. Sulfate, Leaping Tiger, Alexa Casino + More

Part one of the Two Daze 2020 project has been unleashed this morning, an annual NZ Music Month initiative sparked by Isaac McFarlane (Two Cartoons) that gives musicians 48 hours to write and record an original song. The restraint of a two day limit has produced some downright diamonds, from uplifting pop sounds to Leaping Tiger's UK garage and club inspired 'Aura'. The collection features nine knock-out tracks, kicked off with roaring opener 'Pressure' from Silas Futura fka Bobandii, a peppy Chance The Rapper-adjacent slice of Tāmaki Makaurau hip hop. Alexa Casino took the opportunity to test out her latest foray into piano playing on 'Lol Bye', which she described as a lullaby "intended to be listened to on repeat as an aid to fall asleep", with a soundscape built from a recording taken while she was cooking dinner one night. The gruntiest of the bunch is 'Slush' by Sulfate (Peter Ruddell of Wax Chattels), and if you listen closely between the screech, bass and brass, you can just make out backing vocals from Hariet Ellis (Na Noise, Dateline). It's a challenge not to gush about every single song on Two Daze 2020, Pt. 1, so it's best you just listen and look forward to part two...
