Golden Axe Share Over 100 Unreleased & Unavailable Tracks
Tāmaki Makaurau electronic duo Golden Axe emerge from their hidey holes with a whopper of a drop for 420 Day – unveiling today over 100 previously unavailable and unreleased tracks over on their Bandcamp page. Formed all the way back around 2002, the party-starting team of Chris Cudby (Power Nap, also editor of this website) and Daif King's (Stälker) mask-wearing musical antics seem eerily at home in our current lockdown era. Their hook-packed 2006 album Party Alarm Bells and never before released Enjoy Tapes collection (recorded in 2004 during a residency at Wellington's Enjoy Gallery) are amongst the huge amount of material now online for free download – alongside Golden Shake Hands (2004), Hypercolours (2005), YUM (2005), Peaceful Planet (2008) and Best Of Both Worlds. Volume 1 (2009) – filling in the blanks of much of their back catalogue before 2010's breakout long player Fantasy Footwork.
"Happy 420 Day! We've uploaded over 100 vintage Golden Axe tunes for your listening pleasure, never before available online until today – our hit-packed Party Alarm Bells LP, the unreleased 'Enjoy Tapes' album, Hypercolours, YUM + tonnes more. Dedicated to all the zero-budget artists making their own fun out of whatever they've got around at the time."
