Frank Turner Announces New Zealand Livestream Show
UK folk-punk Frank Turner is turning up for his Australasian fanbase in light of his Aotearoa tour getting corona-cancelled. Originally locked in for Pōneke and Tāmaki Makaurau shows at the very start of this month, Turner is instead putting on a live solo performance at a time to suit us lot on the other side of the world. He's asking streamers to head to his Instagram @frankturner for 11pm our time (around midday for him), adding the message "I doubt I'll be on the beers myself at that time of day, but charge your glasses, see you there". As was planned, Turner will treat viewers to fresh tunes from his latest record No Man's Land, a thirteen track collection dedicated to some of the most important women in history, including Byzantine princess Kassiani, Egyptian feminist activist Huda Sha'arawi, and Resusci Anne. See you online and in the comments tonight at the Insta-gig...
"Cancelling shows because of the pandemic sucked. In particular, I was supposed to be in Australia / New Zealand right now. I miss my friends down under. I'm also aware that the livestreams I've been doing lately aren't the best time of day for people down there. So this Monday, the 6th, I'll be doing an Instagram livestream at 7pm (perth), 9pm (Sydney / Melbourne), 11pm New Zealand time. It's not the same as a full set, but it's something. I doubt I'll be on the beers myself at that time of day, but charge your glasses, see you there."
